The Ukrainian Congress
Committee of America, Inc. (UCCA) is a
non-partisan, not-for-profit organization
as defined under Section 501 (c) (3) of
the Internal Revenue Code |

that has represented the
interests of America's ethnic Ukrainians
for sixty years. Its membership is broad-based,
including corporation heads, academics
and retirees. The UCCA's offices are
located in New York City, Washington, DC,
and Kyiv, Ukraine. Established in 1940,
the Ukrainian Congress Committee of
America, Inc. today unites some 20
Ukrainian organizations and over 75
branches throughout the United States. A
37-person, elected, volunteer board of
directors governs the UCCA in conjunction

representatives
of member-organizations and the largest
UCCA branches. Five paid employees staff
the offices and support the work of the
more than 1,000 branch volunteers
nationwide. Each branch is formed and
sustained by local volunteer boards,
representatives of local organizations
and members at large. |

The UCCA's National Office is based in New
York City, home to thousands of Ukrainian
Americans. The National Office
coordinates the work of the UCCA's
branches, located in such diverse regions
as New England, Southern California and
the Pacific Northwest, and oversees the
work of its various committees. The
National Office enjoys a close working
relationship with Ukraine's Permanent
Mission to the United Nations, Ukraine's
Embassy to the United States, and
Ukraine's Consulates General in New York
and Chicago. |

The Ukrainian
National Information Service (UNIS), established in
1977, is the UCCA's Washington, D.C.,
public affairs office. UNIS advises
members of Congress and the
Administration regarding issues of
importance to the Ukrainian American
community. |

UNIS provides
timely information about Ukraine to the U.S.
Government, the academic community and
the media. UNIS publishes backgrounders
and policy papers, holds press
conferences and forums on contemporary
issues, schedules and hosts activities
for Ukrainian dignitaries visiting the
nation's capital, and consults Ukraine's
Embassy to the United States. |
